Suspect arrested after stealing truck

On 4/19/2024 at approximately 1:00 pm, deputies were made aware by school resource officers that a 2023 Ford Super Duty belonging to the Davie County School system had just been taken from the parking lot of South Davie Middle School.  Patrol deputies responded to the area and started searching for the stolen vehicle.  A deputy quickly located the vehicle on Greenhill Road near County Home Road where a traffic stop was performed on the vehicle.   The suspect and driver was identified as Tracy Lynn Payne, female, age: 42, of 1090 Chickadee Lane, Woodleaf, NC, and taken into custody. 
While on the scene of the traffic stop, a separate victim drove up stating that Tracy had just came to that victim’s home on Greenhill Road and attempted to gain entry through the back door.  Payne was unable to force entry and returned to the stolen truck and left traveling down Greenhill Road, which is when it was originally spotted by the deputy. 
Tracy was charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle, attempted breaking and entering as well as carrying a concealed weapon (brass knuckles). 
Tracy was presented before a magistrate where she was given a $5,000.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 2, 2024 in Davie District Court.
