On April 24, 2024, Davie County Sheriff Office’s Animal Services Division served a search warrant at 178 Wall Street, Mocksville, NC. Animal Services had received information that on April 23, 2024, a brown and white Pitbull puppy had been seen by an emergency vet in Winston-Salem for diarrhea and vomiting. According to the vet, a toxicology screen was positive for Cocaine, THC, and Benzodiapine. Animal Services deputies arrested Anthony Drew Church, male, age 26, of 178 Wall Street, Mocksville, NC, and charged him with one count felony cruelty to animals, one count felony possession of cocaine, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Church received a $5,000 unsecured bond and has a court date of May 9, 2024 in Davie District Court. In connection with the search warrant, 26 dogs, mostly nursing puppies and mothers, were seized.
