Local Man Charged with 19 Counts of a Violation of a Domestic Violence Protection Order

On 01/29/2010 Michael Passmore’s estranged wife Debra Joseph Passmore filed a report with the Sheriff’s Office that her estranged husband had befriended her on MySpace under a false name of Matt Smith in violation of the 50-B order she has against him. The order was issued on February 9th 2009 by Judge Jimmy Myers. During this investigation Lt. W L Whitesides did a search warrant on the MySpace account of Matt Smith82. When the information from the MySpace account arrived Lt. Whitesides did an investigation on the IP address used by Matt Smith. During this investigation Debra Passmore reported to Lt. Whitesides that Matt Smith (Michael Passmore) was texting her everyday and would not stop even though she had asked him to. She also told Lt. Whitesides that she had blocked Matt Smith from her MySpace home page but he was still posting her messages on her MySpace wall. On 03/06/2010 Lt. Whitesides had probable cause in this case and charged Michael Joseph Passmore with 19 counts of Violation of a 50-B order for the text messages. Over a 19 day time frame (Matt Smith) sent Debra Passmore 755 text messages. He was charged with one count per day that he texted her. Michael Joseph Passmore was served with the violation warrants while he was in custody of the Davie County Jail for his 6th violation of the 50-B order, and his 2nd stalking charge. The investigation in this matter is still on going and Michael Joseph Passmore could be charged with more violations as information becomes known and he also stands to be charged with cyber stalking also.
