On 8-25-10, Detectives from the Davie County Sheriff's Office, as part of the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (NC ICAC) Task Force, began an operation to catch sexual predators  attempting to solicit sex from minors over the internet.  During the course of the operation, Det./Sgt. Kyle Shuping was approached while posing as a 14 year old female by the defendant, Lawrence Richard Creighton, 47, of Raleigh NC.  During the course of several conversations, Creighton instructed the minor on performing sexual acts and eventually offered to meet the minor in order to have sex.  A meeting was planned and Creighton drove from Raleigh to meet the victim who he believed was skipping school that day in order to meet him and go swimming in a relatives pool.  Detectives from the Sheriff's Office were waiting for Creighton when he pulled into the meeting spot and quickly arrested him and placed him in custody.  When Creighton was arrested, two condoms were found in his left front pocket and a bathing suit, towel, cologne, and deodorant were found in a bag in Creighton's back seat.  Creighton is currently out on $60,000.00 unsecured bond with the restriction not to go online on any social networking sites or any chat rooms.
