On August 23 Deputies responded to a home on Hwy 64 East to a reported larceny of a motor vehicle. The vehicle belonged to the Davie County Emergency Services department. The reporting person advised he went out to put his computer in his work vehicle and to turn the radios off when he noticed the vehicle missing. The suspect(s) also broke into two other vehicles on the property, one belonging to the Davie County Rescue Squad, and the other was a personal vehicle.
It appeared that the suspect(s) attempted to take the vehicle belonging to the Rescue Squad but was unsuccessful due to proper sequencing for ignition. It also appears the suspect(s) attempted to take the personal vehicle, however, it needed service at the time. It was found that there were items taken from the vehicles including flashlights and other equipment.
The Emergency Services Vehicle was located abandoned on Hart Rd in Rowan County. Chief J.D. Hartman recovered the vehicle and processed the scene. Further investigation is to follow. Any information regarding this case should be forwarded to Davie County Sheriff's Office CID 336-751-5547.
