On 08/07/2010 Jimmy Gentle, the owner of Gentle Machine and Tools reported that there was a breaking, entering, and larceny at his shop early that morning. Mr. Gentle stated to officers he had a video of the suspects involved. Lt. Whitesides responded to Gentle Machine and received a copy of the video. On 07/11/2010 Mr. Gentle contacted Lt. Whitesides to advise the suspects had returned, but had not taken anything on this attempt. It appeared by video that one of the suspects found the camera and fled. During a week long investigation Lt. Whitesides was able to develop a lead on the possible suspects in this case. Lt. Whitesides went to the residence to speak with the suspects and presented still frames from the video. Mark Beaver then stated it was him and Farren Hudson in the photos, however Farren denied any wrong doing. Lt. Whitesides asked both suspects to come to the Davie County Sheriff's Office to conduct and interview, both complied. Farren Hudson drove his Chevy truck to the office. After the interviews were completed Lt. Whitesides requested consent from Hudson to search his truck which was granted. During the search of the vehicle marijuana was found in the ashtray of the truck. Also found in the truck was a canvas tool bag with numerous tools inside and a pair of gloves. When asked by Lt. Whitesides Mark Beaver identified the gloves found as the ones given to him by Farren to wear while at Gentle Machine and Tools.
Both suspects were charged and placed under $5000.00 bond.
